I am doing a Project for English and I need to ask an expert about the topic I choose .I choose metabolism as you can see.If a nutritionist or health expert can answer my questions that would be great.I also need your name if you don't mind. Please and Thank you (: Questions: 1.What is Metabolism? 2. Are there certain foods that make your metabolism go faster or slower? If so which ones. 3. In some advertisements and commercials they show pills and drinks that can help your metabolism work faster , do these pills or drinks actually work? 4. Does exercise make your metabolism quicker? 5. 1. Metabolism is the set of chemical reactions that occur in living organisms in order to maintain life. These processes allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments. Metabolism is usually divided into two categories. Catabolism breaks down organic matter, for example to harvest energy in cellular respiration. Anabolism, on the other hand, uses energy to construct components of cells such as proteins and nucleic acids. 2. Yes there are certain foods, but I cant name them on the top of my head, but they are foods that can do this slightly. 3. Pills dont work. They cant increase the metabolism, the pill claim they contain they kill fat cells, but thats not true, if it was it would be a lot more money. 4. Yes exercise makes your metabolism quicker, and if you do it for a long time, not sure how long, but a long time, your metabolism will be naturally high. Although when you workout (with weights and such) your metabolism could be elevated for 48 hours, depends on the training though. 5. Not sure. 6. Exercise is the only way to make your metabolism quicker 7. No. It does not effect it, but you can gain a lot of weight, and drugs can kill you. (Weed can make you gain weight like crazy, along with drinking beer) 8. You tell them what to eat, and how to eat, and to tell them whats a scam and whats not. 9. Yes, African Americans have higher metabolisms (not all of them) then white people. Genetics. Just like they have higher blood pressure. 10. Refer to answer 1. |
