Question: After working substantially on my posture, can i regain my health i lost due to bad posture.?
(Posted by: irshad r on 2010-02-09 00:54:57)
I am having pain in my jaws, probably TMJ syndrome, pain in the chests, head ache, upper abdomen swelling, pain in the back of the neck, behind the earlobe, muscles just above knee joints seem swelled, Digestive system is going a bit awry. All this I suppose is due to my bad posture, slouching while sitting, sitting continuously for over 15 hours at a stretch for over 10 months now, no walking activities, out- of- schedule sleep timing etc. So I will be happy if you can write an answer for me about my chances to regain my health after I correct my posture, eating habits and sleep timing. I'm 21 years old and run a small IT services company. (so continuously staring at computers is part of my job!!). |

Very similar to myself, I have found that when relaxed (side on) my stomach sticks out, my ass sticks out the other way! = S an my shoulders are rounded with my head pushed out further than that. Best thing I found to do was not walk around all day in the proper forced posture, rather when doing weights (mainly curls) suck your belly in and stand with the arm working furthest from the mirror observe your posture, if you can get it nice whilst under stress itll fall into placed nicely afterwards. As far as the monster computer sessions go, I just set up a notification system in outlook 03 that poked me to get up and walk to the other end of the room and back, really pulling my body up the ceiling and stretched those legs. Another good tip is to suck your stomach in for 30 seconds (hard) and breathe in and out at the same time, test yourself to complete an IT task whilst tummy tucked and when you have finished dnt let it all fall out try to get it to a happy medium where youthink you could hold it for another hour....or until you need to get up for your walk = ) Eating habits, spend a bit more money and but some snacks to break up your meals, things like apples, bananas, cheese strings, pepperami, sausgerolls etc can all by split up into smaller meals - for now don't be fussy bout what you eat just how much and when, get that routine nailed first. Sleeping is important, however more importantly is not eating 3 hours prior to sleep, blood sugar will raise and then have nothing to do. You'll have 99% success rate, especially if you do some weights alongside ure cardio, don't buy into Acai crud, or special diet shakes, just be human - pomegranite (spelling) juice has plenty of antioxidants in it and is cheaper, plenty of juice, plenty of water, plenty of breaks, plenty of meals. Best of you luck to you = ) |

Hi, I used to use the computer non stop for 8 - 9 hours a day for my work. the backrest of my chair was really small and i would slouch forward too. I developed severe pain in my left shoulder blade. it was so bad i couldn't carry my handbag. occasionally i would get chest pains as well. recently i developed a strange twitching of the eyes and decided to stop using the computer so much. since u are in the IT business and u cant stop using the comp, i suggest u change ur chair, get one of those high back executive chairs, that should support ur entire back. lean back more if u can and take more breaks and walk around. I think half of our health problems are because we do not exercise and rest well. so resting, exercising and sleeping well is a must. but of course why not just have a health check too? just to set ur mind at rest. hope u feel better soon. |
