Question: How can i improve my fitness and health/general wellbeing?

I have been suffering with quiet a few colds recently. and also had the added pain of my knee being continuously aching ( i'm hoping to go to doctors about it soon) I'm 17 and i do not eat as healthy as i should. i'm 5'5 and way around 8 stone. I do do an hour of tennis on wednesday nights, and also ride at the weekends. But that's about as far as it is with fitness, i used to do a lot more - hockey, netball and ballet and occasionally sprint/ cross country etc. I really want to increase my muscles, especially on my legs, so that my knee hopefully won't hurt as much, put also just increase the general tone of my body, but i don't want to do an extreme diet/ fitness plan. but i want to improve my health more and overall fitness etc, how can i do this? any tips??
