Question: Eating healthy but not losing weight?
(Posted by: babypepper on 2010-03-10 14:21:58)
I have been eating very healthy for a little over two weeks. I was never the worst eater to begin with and I am not overweight. I am a woman about 5'3, 125 lbs, 31 years old. But I wouldn't mind losing about 10 pounds and I know it couldnt hurt because I have a lot of extra fat around my thighs. My diet basically consists of eggs, mostly whites, vegetables, tilapia, salmon, some whole wheat pasta and brown rice. Sometimes I'll have whole wheat bagels, almonds, fresh mozarella. My diet isn't so strict in that if I feel like it I'll have a snack once in a while. Like a candybar or icecream. On weekends I'll have pizza and coke. So it's not perfect, nor trying to be but definately, eating pretty healthy and not losing weight. And I don't eat a ton. What's going on? |

You also need to exercise. you can't just eat healthy, but you have to work out a little too. maybe then you'll lose those 10 pounds. but really, 125 lbs is very good for a 31 year old :) |

Keep eating healthy like you are BUT also pair that with exercise.. maybe a light jog in the evening or morning. Since you arent trying to loose that much weight.. it should be too hard for you! You will loose weight faster if you do both.Hope this helps! :0) |

In order to lose weight, it is best to eat fewer calories than the amount you would burn doing physical activity. Your diet seems fine, just make sure to include something from each food group. Also if you can try to add some physical activity if you do not already do so. Just keep up the good work and you'll see results |

Good for you! i wish that was my diet! weight is mostly about exercise and diet, but calories is what you have to watch. Cut some calories from your recommended daily consumption, but not too much. 3500 calories make a pound, so stay far from that per day, but don't get as low as 1500. that's a dangerous area. Good luck! I hope this helps! |

If you are doing some weight training exercises you are building muscle and burning fat so your weight can stay the same. Don't just focus on your weight focus on the overall look you are happy with. Weight training will put muscle on you and help burn fat so you might even weigh more but your appearance will look thinner if you have burned off extra fat. At 5'3 125 lbs doesn't seem like you have to much to worry about so maybe you want to try and reach some training goals such as being able to run a certain distance in a certain time frame or lift a certain amount of weights for more reps. Good Luck |

Two weeks is a really short time to see any results, since water weight, muscle mass gain, or even a good bowel movement can affect your weight, up to 3 or 4 pounds. So the first question is: Are you exercising? The eating well combined with a cardiovascular workout will be important for a weight loss goal. Getting your heart rate up (but not too far up!) will encourage the burning of fat. If so, it is possible that your body may be at its physical and hormonal balance...which means that fighting for weightloss against your body's equilibrium, might inspire your body to "revolt " and hold onto fat cells with a death grip, and give you a hard time, and even the reverse of your desired result. So, I would recommend a path that involves more fitness, and build up of muscle in the areas of your body that you feel are "problems " so that they "jiggle " less... and just work on loving your body regardless of the flaws, since you aren't in a place where weight loss is a medical necessity. |

How often do you eat, yeah its healthy but maybe you are eating too much and your metabolism is slower than maybe when you were 25. Also, are working out, not necessarily wheight training but enough for you to start building lean muscle because remember muscle weighs more than fat. My suggestion is eat 6 to 8 times a day. It might seem like a lot but simple keep your body working, you know what I mean? After a good breakfast keep your body "running " by eating small portions avery 2 to 3 hrs. And also, I think women have it harder than men when it comes to loosing wheight, so be patient 2 to 3 weeks its kinda the time your body take to adjust anyways. |

Possibly, you're eating too few calories? Too many calories? maybe now is the time to start counting calories as this is how we are able to determine what is going wrong. At 125, 1200 calories would be perfect for you. 500 of those calories should come from protein. The remaining 700 should be split amongst carbs and fat however you like. Another dieting method you could try, and I recommend more so than the above, is a low carb diet. You can implement it like this: Still eat 1200 calorie every day. Still eat 500 calories from protein. Now eat 500 calories from fat. Eat 200 calories from carbs. For the low carb method, you should design your meal plan around these food sources: Protein: eggs, chicken, tuna, salmon, white fish, turkey, whey protein powder Fat: almonds, cashews, all natural peanut butter, avacado, extra virgin olive oil, fish oil capsules, evening primrose capsules Carbs: only GREEN veggies. For the first diet method you can use the above protein and fat sources but you can also add these carbs to the mix: fruits, any veggies, oatmeal, rice, potatoes, pasta I also think you should include exercise. 3x per week lift weights for 45-60 mins. Full body workouts each session. Follow that with 30 mins of cardio. That's ALL you will need to drop 10lbs! If you have any questions, just ask. good luck!! |
