Question: Why have i suddenly started losing weight and feel better since i quit my 5 can a day diet coke addiction?

I used to drink upwards of 5 Diet Cokes a day. I was left with constant headaches, serious dental problems, dry eye, depression, and inability to lose ANY weight despite working out in the gym 3 days a week. I haven't touched Dirt Coke in a month- since then, my weight has dropped, I have more energy, my eye issues have faded, and my depression and headaches vanished. Someone told me my bad symptoms were a result of the toxin aspartame in Diet Coke- Is that possible? If you were a former Diet Coke addict, what changes have you experienced since you quit drinking that toxic brew? I have a friend who is severely overweight, and has severe depression- The ONLY liquid she drinks is Diet Coke. Diet Cokes leaves her dehydrated, so she drinks more Diet Coke- and like a chain smoker, she goes through one after the other- sometimes drinking a 12 pack each day. I told her if she quit Diet Coke, she'd have a better chance tackling her weight and depression. She didn't believe me. The aspartame in all the Diet Coke must be the cause of her health issues.

Because diet soda is very high in sodium and causes bloating.
