(Posted by: IZ on 2010-07-29 09:41:49)
I'm 5'5 and currently weigh 140 lbs, I want to get into shape and get skinnier, but I don't have a goal weight. What should it be? (I'm going to start swimming competitvley in the fall so muscle will be added in) **I'm 14 years old |

You probably already know everyones ideal weight is different. everyone has a weight where they feel the most comfortable and confident. im the exact same height as you and used to be pretty heavy. recently i got ibs and was forced to change my diet. im now down to 120 and i feel awesome! i have no desire to lose any more weight. maybe thats not the same perfect weight for you, but its something to shoot for! good luck, im rooting for ya! |

I'd say 140 isn't bad at all for your height, and people can look way different even if they have the same weight, so it's impossible to tell how you look. but if you are really keen on losing weight no matter what, I'd maybe dip to the 135 range - it's fit, healthy, slimmer, but not too skinny. :) Good luck. |

To be honest weight isnt that important, especially since muscle weights more than fat, so its difficult to set a weight goal, but it's just when you feel happy with the progress to your body, i know that didnt really help. Maybe you could put your height and weight into the bmi calculator and see where you end up. Altough the bmi doesnt take into consideration muscle weight. |

That is a perfect weight for someone as tall as you. just be careful not to go down past 115 and you'll be fine |

The rule is, 5,5 should be 100lbs... 5,1 = 105lbs 5,2 = 110lbs 5,3 = 115lbs 5,4 = 120lbs 5,5 = 125lbs You forgot to mention how old you were! Weight increases with age, even if your height stays the same. For example, a 5,4 woman in her twenties should weight about 120, but the same woman when she turns 40, should weight about 140lbs. If you're young, you may be a little overweight, but it's not unhealthy. If you're comfortable with your body, don't lose a pound, but if you're not, you should lose about 15lbs so you'd get to about 125lbs. |
